The Apple Orchard

I think one of my favourite things about homeschooling, is how flexible it is.

I’m pretty eclectic in my approach, but will be following my provincial curriculum at the request of my husband.  Nevertheless, the majority of learning will be child directed and really just going off of their interests.

I also plan on a lot of outside time.

So we when we ended up with a gorgeous 20+ degree September day, it was super easy to pack up and head to a new orchard that just opened this week!

One of the best parts was a huge sandbox filled with corn kernels!  This offered an awesome sensory experience for my little ones, who had a blast filling and dumping the corn in and out of toy trucks.  My two year old took a long time to adjust to actually moving in the corn, but the 4 year old loved that he would sink in the kernels and especially loved jumping in them!

We had such a great day, and brought home some yummy apples and pears, making for a delicious learning opportunity!
